For lovers of local produce

Come, approach, taste the treasures of the gastronomy and crafts of the Charente, Limousin and Dordogne!

The barbecues will be smoking to offer you the succulent grills promised by our Limousin cow breeders! And make no mistake: it is the good grass of our meadows that makes this meat so succulent to the palate.

For the aperitif, we suggest a chilled Pineau des Charentes or the famous ‘surfer’ cocktail, a well-served Cognac/Schweppes where the Cognac surfs on top of the glass. A short diversions to the Cognac vineyards (1 hour from the campsite) will bring you into the magic of this local gold. Venture to the small producers, or take advantage of the guided tours of the big houses (Courvoisier, Martell, Hennessy…), it’s up to you!

Gastronomy

For starters, Grillon Charentais and Melon Charentais of course! All served in magnificent Limoges porcelain, whose manufactures are worth visiting. In addition to the porcelain, you will find enamels and earthenware.
Some will prefer some cagouilles (snail in patois) seasoned with their inimitable tomato sauce or some dish from the duck farms of the neighbouring Dordogne. They will also need a magnificent Nontron knife, which is also necessary for picking truffles!

Local specialities

Oh yes, I forgot, this meal will undoubtedly be savoured in comfortable charentaises! The last active factory in Charente will be happy to welcome you and help you discover the secrets of this famous turnip!

Other specialities may also interest you, such as the gloves of St Junien, the one and only chocolatine, the luxury shoes “Parallèle”, and so many other beautiful things to see or review on the markets (and night markets in summer) of the Charente, Limousin and Dordogne.
